Tips for Improving PC Performance

Sooner or later, even the most powerful computers inevitably start to slow down. And no matter how carefully a user works with Windows, over time the system accumulates a lot of garbage: browser cache, temporary or deleted program files, clogged system registry and much more.

At first glance it may seem to be nothing, but junk files can be quite large, so do not be surprised if you suddenly had to delete, for example, 15 GB of junk, because this is quite normal. But the main problem is that junk files significantly slow down the system: your computer starts to “hang”, folders are opened reluctantly, and the system boots up for several minutes when you turn it on.

At the same time, junk files are not the only items that can slow down your computer. We decided to make a list of tips and recommend a list of programs that will help optimize, speed up and clean the PC from the elements that degrade the system.

Remove unnecessary programs

New computers and laptops usually come with a fairly large number of utilities/programs and other software which are already preinstalled, but are not used at all. And unfamiliar with all this users often don’t even know about their existence. At the same time the old “hardware” is also often filled with various programs (both quite familiar and safely forgotten).

Meanwhile, successfully installed software at the first opportunity loads the system, when it turns on and runs unnoticed in the background, and there is absolutely no benefit from it. Unnecessary programs should be dealt with first. The main thing is to carefully check all programs and not to uninstall by mistake any software that was installed to ensure the correct operation of the software.

Delete temporary files

A hard drive during continuous operation literally every day accumulates a huge number of temporary files. And over time, little-visible files become an “anchor” that pulls the speed level of the entire system into the abyss of brakes and long downloads.

That is why you should engage in regular cleaning of the system, so that the download speed of various programs and the OS did not slow down. In addition, it’s banal to help free up space on the hard drive running without days off. And you can choose either to use the built-in function of the OS, or to use the recommended separate programs

Disable autoloads in the list

In fact, an impressive number of programs run in automatic mode when the system starts up, but nobody touched them further if only they did not burden the system. Because of them the system takes much longer to boot and RAM, even if not too much, is stuffed with utilities which are most often absolutely unnecessary. However, you can simply disable them instead of uninstalling them, which we recommend you to do.

Defragment disks

One of the key factors that affect the performance of the system is so-called fragmentation (related directly to the computer memory), which is the process whereby some executable files are divided into a lot of segments.

And as a result, the process of reading these files in any case begins to slow down over time. For everything to be “in order”, and in order not to create chaos in the system (files were not scattered in different parts of the hard drive), it is recommended to defragment the disk regularly (if it is not an SSD), which will line up blocks of files in one row, and thus accelerate the process of reading, and the system running.

You can choose to use either the standard tool of the operating system Windows 10, or use other auxiliary programs that do the job noticeably better.

Remove malware

Many users may not even realize that some types of system resources are appetizingly consumed by some common type of virus. As a rule, these include Trojans, spyware viruses and all sorts of third-party ad banners that pop up in windows from time to time. And it’s easy to catch this kind of thing, for example, all you have to do is install a program from an unknown source.

The only problem is that even though most of today’s anti-viruses update their databases regularly, they are unable to detect, let alone to disarm all malware in the system. This is because some types of malware simply do not appear in the automatic download, and therefore they can only be detected by specialized software.

Thus, if you suddenly noticed that the OS is booting noticeably longer, utilities and other programs began to load for several minutes, and there are no unwanted applications in the autoloading mode, then you should check your system for viruses.
